Abstract
The Yadam scholars could play a significant role in helping the public enjoy readin Ydam. In order to do that, the Yadam scholars should try hard to foreground the value of Yadam works. Yadam works contain national sentiments and moral inclinations. By reading Yadam works, people can encounter and experience the deep-seated national sentiments and spirits. The patterns of national sentiments and feelings which were restructured by Yadam works can be applied to reconstruct the identity of Korean people. Those can be helpful for foreigners who are eager to know about the uniqueness of Koreans and Korean culture. The local stories represented in Yadam works can be transformed to local storytelling, enriching tis culture. Form Yadam works, we can reconstruct local landscape, atmosphere, and local characters. Yadam works is written in Chinese important and requires careful treatment. Particularly detailed consideration should be given to the process of translation in order to retain the cultural institution and convention which were rooted in Yadam written in Chinese character. It is a very important job for us to make a new anthology of Yadam. It will enrich our literary culture. And English translations are urgently needed. The English Yadam anthology can stimulate great interest in and understanding of Korean culture in western societies. Creationg an archive of Yadam is equally significant. We can make databases of narrative structures, storylines, and characters of Yadam. They can respond to the demands of the westerners who are curious about and interested in Korean culture. Some Yadam works contain elements which can be utilized as the literary therapy texts. Some Yadam works lead people to think positively. And some other works give delusion. By these experiences, people can find dream in reality, reality in dream. These are a way of performing asceticism. Form the same reasons, ordinary people can have fundamental introspection on themselves by reading Yadam works. In Yadam works, we can find diverse patterns of self narrative. These patterns can be applied to the storytelling therapy. Until now, the Yadam scholars were only interested in the popularizing Yadam. From now on, the scholars should lead not only the popularization of Yadam but also the popularization of Yadam research.
