Abstract
Fungivorous tenebrionids, Ischnodactylus parallelicornis (Nakane 1956) and Platydema higonium Lewis, 1894 in the tribe Diaperini (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae: Diaperinae), are recorded for the first time from Korea. Both I. parallelicornis and P. higonium are rare inhabitants of fungi on deciduous trees in Korea. These species all exhibit monophagy, with I. parallelicornis only inhabiting the fruiting body of Tramates orientalis and P. higonium only inhabiting the fruiting body of Stereum hirsutum and Stereum ostrea throughout their lives. A description, key to the Korean Ischnodoctylus and Platydema, fungal hosts, biological notes, photographs of adults and illustrations of diagnostic characteristics are provided herein.
