A double phenomenon of acceptance or exclusion of Gandhi in west launched at the beginning of 20th century. This is a phenomenon of an orientalism which has been continued. Christian acceptance of Gandhi was peaked in the nonviolence civil rights movement of Martin Luther King in 1960th, and it was changed into universal acceptance. The symbol was the film <Gandhi> of 1983. From that time, the postmodern acceptance of Gandhi as anti-civilization and anti-institution has been groped for, but it has not effect on thought and social movement in west.
