dc.description.abstractThis paper aims to examine Korean and American presidents’ inaugural addresses and find out the types of ontological metaphors in presidents’ inaugural addresses. In addition, this study provides the characteristics of ontological metaphors, which distinguish ontological metaphors from structural metaphors in political speeches. Furthermore, this paper will show why ontological metaphors took by far the highest frequency in presidents’ inaugural addresses-
