Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the types of KSL(Korean as a second language) learners in the multicultural society and to provide a goal setting, content, instruction model in KSL program. Recently, lots of research in relation to KSL program are carried out significantly with the advent of multicultural society. The goals of KSL program can be divided into two macro goals; 1) improving basic communication skill and Korean language ability for learning, 2) understanding multiculture. In order to achieve these goals, KSL program should provide practice for improving four language skills, various communication style, and multiculcultural contents are related to Korean and other countries. This paper also examine an instruction model for second language learners(Truscott & Watts-Taffe, 2003) focused on improving literacy development.
